NHL News: Hurricanes Recall Antti Raanta & 2 Others

The Carolina Hurricanes have added to their playoff roster, as they have recalled Antti Raanta, Max Comtois, and Dylan Coghlan from the AHL.

With the Hurricanes currently in the playoffs, it is not surprising to see them add to their roster. It is always very important for playoff clubs to have plenty of depth, as it is a crucial part of the year, and injuries naturally occur.

Raanta, 34, will give the Hurricanes another experienced netminder on their roster with this call-up. The 2023-24 campaign was a rough one for the 34-year-old, as he had a 12-7-2 record, a .872 SV%, and a 2.99 GAA in 24 games. With that, he was waived during this season and played in eight games with the Chicago Wolves, posting a .873 SV%.

Comtois, 25, signed an AHL deal with the Chicago Wolves this season, where he had 19 goals, 44 points, and 109 penalty minutes. His strong play in the AHL led to him landing an NHL deal with the Canes, and he had an assist in his regular-season game with the team.

As for Coghlan, he played in one regular-season game for the Hurricanes this season, where he had a minus-2 rating. In 61 games this season with the Springfield Thunderbirds this year, he had 16 goals and 41 points.
