NHL News: Penguins Sign NCAA Champion

Fresh off winning the 2024 National Championship with the University of Denver, Pittsburgh Penguins second-round pick (58th overall, 2021 NHL Draft) Tristan Broz is set to begin his professional career immediately, after signing a three-year ELC.

The 21-year-old will join the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL for the rest of the season on an amateur tryout.

Broz, a 6-foot, 190-pound center, helped lead the Pioneers to a record 10th Frozen Four title, after scoring two overtime goals in the tournament, being named to the All-Tournament Team, and recording 16 goals, 24 assists and 40 points in 43 games for University of Denver.

In three collegiate seasons (two at Denver and one at University of Minnesota), he tallied an impressive plus-42 rating in 119 games, along with 79 points.

He'll get right back into playoff action, as the WBS Pens will be heading into the AHL postseason after one final regular season match.
