NHL Rumors: Penguins & Kings Could Strike Summer Trade

The Pittsburgh Penguins had a brutal 2023-24 season. After entering the season with high expectations due to a busy offseason, the Penguins missed the playoffs for the second season in a row. Because of this, they are expected to make some notable changes to their roster this offseason.

Goaltender Tristan Jarry is a clear trade candidate heading into the offseason, as he fell out of favor as the season rolled on. One clear potential landing spot for Jarry is the Los Angeles Kings, as it is apparent that they need help between the pipes.

The Kings have had question marks with their goaltending all season. While Cam Talbot was solid for them, his play has fallen off significantly during the playoffs, and it has shown that the Kings need more options in the net. Thus, it would not be surprising at all if the Kings tried to land Jarry during the offseason.

Jarry would give the Kings a true starter to work with as they look to cement themselves as true contenders. While he had a down year, being moved to a team with strong defense like the Kings could help Jarry get his game back. When playing at his best, he is a strong starting goalie at the NHL level.

We will need to wait and see if the Kings and Penguins end up making a trade centering around Jarry this offseason from here.
