Rangers’ Matt Rempe Injures Capitals Defenseman With Massive Hit

New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe has immediately made an impact with the Original Six club. He has provided them with more toughness and grit. However, he also has created a lot of controversy due to his aggressive style of play, and that is now continuing.

In Game 3 against the Washington Capitals, Rempe threw a massive hit on the Capitals defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk and was handed an interference penalty on the play. van Riemsdyk suffered an upper-body injury on the play and did not return for the matchup because of it.

Rempe's hit on van Riemsdyk was late, and he made contact with the Capitals defenseman's head. Now, the hope is that TVR's injury is not too serious and that he won't need to miss significant time.

With the Capitals looking to get back into the series, losing another defenseman is far from ideal. Nick Jensen and Rasmus Sandin are already sidelined, and now another one of their everyday defensemen may need to miss time.

Do you think that this hit by Rempe warrants any discipline from NHL Player Safety? Let your thoughts be heard in the comments.
