Hurricanes Rumors: Analyst Links Brady Skjei To Atlantic Division Team

According to Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic, defenseman Brady Skjei is a potential significant trade target for the Boston Bruins this offseason.

With the Bruins looking to bolster their blue line, Skjei's strong defensive skills, two-way play, and experience make him an attractive addition.

Known for his ability to contribute offensively while maintaining a solid defensive presence, Skjei's potential acquisition could address some of the Bruins' depth issues on defense, providing a reliable presence alongside their existing core.

The 30-year-old put up the best offensive numbers of his 9-year NHL career this season, recording 13 goals, 34 assists, 47 total points, a +15 plus/minus rating, and 90 blocked shots across 80 games played.

Shinzawa highlights that the Bruins are particularly interested in Skjei's versatility and capability to play significant minutes in various situations.

The team's management sees Skjei as a valuable option to enhance their defensive lineup and remain competitive in the upcoming season.

During his time in Carolina, Skjei has amassed 43 goals, 92 assists, 135 total points, a +46 plus/minus rating, and 292 blocked shots over 302 games played.

Skjei just completed the final year of his 6-year, $31.5M contract ($5.25M AAV), signed back in 2018.
