Hurricanes Rumors: Brady Skjei Connected to Pacific Team

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brady Skjei is one of the top free agents who could hit the market this offseason. Given how excellent of a season he had in 2023-24, it is very likely that the Hurricanes will try to re-sign him instead of losing him for nothing through free agency.

However, if the Canes cannot sign Skjei to a new deal before July 1, there is an expectation that the Los Angeles Kings will try to sign him in free agency.

The Kings certainly need to improve the left side of their defense. Bringing in Skjei would significantly improve their top four, as he not only plays a steady defensive game, but he also provides plenty of offense from the point along with it. There is no question that the Kings could use a player like that, especially when noting that they are expecting to go on a real playoff run next season.

Since Skjei plays a very strong all around game, he would also work on both of their special team units. This naturally improves his value and would make him an outstanding addition for a club like the Kings.

We will now need to wait and see if the Kings end up landing Skjei this offseason. On paper, there appears to be a very good fit between the player and the team.
