Jets Rumors: Nikolaj Ehlers to Islanders Heating Up

The Winnipeg Jets are a team to pay very close attention to during the 2024 NHL Offseason. They are expected to make multiple moves after a disappointing playoff run, and one player who has been picking up a lot of steam in the rumor mill is winger Nikolaj Ehlers.

Ehlers is entering the final season of his contract and would certainly have the potential to bring in a nice return for the Jets in a trade. NHL insider David Pagnotta specifically mentioned the New York Islanders as a club who could potentially trade their first-round pick for Ehlers.

It is not a secret that the Islanders desperately need more scoring if they hope to become a bigger threat in the Eastern Conference next season. Scoring woes have been an issue for them for quite some time, and bringing in a high-impact forward like Ehlers could help change things on that front.

Ehlers would be an excellent addition to the Islanders' top six, as he would provide them with more offense. He specifically could well on a line with star forward Mathew Barzal.

Ehlers appeared in 82 games this season with the Jets, where he had 25 goals to go along with 61 points and a plus-27 rating. It was simply another very good season from the skilled forward.

We will now need to wait and see if the Islanders can successfully land Ehlers this offseason from here.
