Jets Rumors: Sean Monahan Linked to Metro Team

Winnipeg Jets center Sean Monahan is expected to test the free-agent market this summer. It is understandable, as he had a big bounce-back season. With that, he played in an NHL-leading 83 games, which was huge when noting the injury troubles he dealt with over the last few seasons.

With Monahan being one of the top centers expected to hit the market, he will have several suitors. One of them will very likely be the Washington Capitals.

The Capitals desperately need to add a top-six center to their roster. They had some serious scoring troubles this season, and bringing in a player like Monahan would help change things on that front. He would be a fit on either of their top two lines and be an obvious choice for their power play.

When looking at the Capitals' center situation, it is apparent that they need some help. This is especially so when noting that Nicklas Backstrom has dealt with serious injury issues over the last several seasons.

We will now need to wait and see what happens with Monahan from here, but it will not be shocking in the slightest if the Caps make a serious push for him.

In 83 games split between the Montreal Canadiens and Jets this season, Monahan had 26 goals to go along with 59 points.
