Lightning Rumors: Anthony Duclair On Metro Club’s Radar

The Tampa Bay Lightning are going to have a very hard time keeping Anthony Duclair around. While he had an impressive run following his trade to the Lightning, the Atlantic Division club only has a little over $5 million of cap space, and Steven Stamkos needs his next deal.

Due to all of this, it seems quite likely that Duclair will hit the free agent market this offseason. If he does, the New York Islanders are expected to be among the teams interested in him.

The Islanders certainly need to boost their middle six if they hope to become a stronger threat in the Eastern Conference next season. Bringing in a player like Duclair would give them just that, as he is an impactful scoring forward.

Duclair would be a big time addition to the Islanders’ second line if signed. Along with that, he would also be a clear option for their power play because of his high offensive IQ.

Given how well Duclair played down the stretch, he is surely going to have a lot of suitors. With the Islanders needing more secondary scoring, look for them to be one of the main clubs in the mix. He would also have the potential to make some real magic playing with a playmaking center like Mathew Barzal.
