NHL Rumors: Penguins Linked To Kings' Arthur Kaliyev

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been linked to Los Angeles Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev in recent trade rumors, as noted by Austin Stanovich of The Hockey News.

The Penguins are looking to rejuvenate their roster and improve their 30th-ranked power play, making Kaliyev’s potent shot and scoring potential an appealing addition.

Known for his goalscoring abilities, Kaliyev could significantly enhance Pittsburgh's offensive strategy, particularly on the power play, where the team has struggled.

Stanovich suggests that acquiring Kaliyev aligns with the Penguins' strategy to inject younger talent into their lineup. The young winger has faced challenges this season with the Kings, and a change of scenery could be beneficial as he approaches restricted free agency without arbitration rights.

Over his four-year career, the 22-year-old has scored 35 goals and 36 assists for 71 total points across 188 games played. He was the 33rd overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings.

The Penguins' interest in Kaliyev indicates their desire to add youth and scoring prowess, with Kaliyev’s ability to create plays off the cycle potentially meshing well with Pittsburgh’s play style.

Stanovich suggests a potential trade scenario could involve the Penguins offering Jesse Puljujarvi, who has one year remaining on an affordable $800,000 contract.

While Puljujarvi has experienced recent offensive struggles and recovery from double hip surgery, his physical play and defensive capabilities could fit well within the Kings' structure. Photo Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports
