Red Wings Rumors: David Perron Linked to Maple Leafs

David Perron is among the notable free agents who could hit the market this offseason. While he has expressed the desire to stay with the Detroit Red Wings, it is not set in stone that he will return at this juncture.

If Perron hits the market, there will be a ton of interest in him, as he is still an impactful middle-six forward at this point of his career and has a ton of experience. According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Toronto Maple Leafs are one club that could look to add him this offseason.

There is no question that the Maple Leafs could use a player like Perron in their top nine. This is because he not only provides solid secondary scoring, but he also is known for his leadership, has a Stanley Cup on his resume, and plays a chippy game. This would make him a strong addition to a team with high expectations like the Maple Leafs.

Perron appeared in 76 games during this season with the Red Wings, where he had 17 goals, 47 points, and 111 hits. Overall, it was another strong campaign for the veteran winger, and the Maple Leafs would benefit greatly by adding him to their group. Let's see if he hits the market from here.
