Senators Rumors: Metro Team Linked to Jakob Chychrun

Ottawa Senators star defenseman Jakob Chychrun is one of the top trade candidates heading into the 2024 NHL Offseason. He is entering the final season of his deal, and he does not seem too enthusiastic about the prospect of signing an extension. Because of this, the Sens may have no choice but to move him.

According to The Fourth Period's Anthony Di Marco, the Philadelphia Flyers are one of the clubs who have been connected to Chychrun.

Pagnotta noted that the Flyers are looking to add a left-shot defenseman to their roster to play with youngster Jamie Drysdale. Bringing in a player like Chychrun certainly could be a big for them, as he is an impactful defenseman who not only plays a steady game but also contributes offensively.

For a rebuilding team like the Flyers to add Chychrun, they likely would want an extension as a part of the deal. In this scenario, the trade return for the Senators would need to be bigger, as Di Marco noted.

Chychrun, 26, appeared in 82 games this past season with the Senators, where he had 14 goals to go along with 41 points. Overall, it was another solid year for the 6-foot-2 defender, and there is no question that the Flyers could use a player like that on their blueline.

We will need to wait and see if the Flyers make a big push for Chychrun this offseason from here.
