3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations for Cam Talbot

The Los Angeles Kings are not expected to re-sign veteran netminder Cam Talbot. The 36-year-old is set to hit the free-agent market on July 1 and should receive some interest from a number of teams.

While he's not the goalie he once was, Talbot is a great option to be a tandem partner or in a backup role. Last season with the Kings, Talbot made $1 million against the cap and posted a 2.50 GAA in 54 games. Unfortunately he couldn't keep up the stellar play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Here's three teams who could be good fits for Talbot next season:

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets are expected to let Laurent Brossoit walk and they will have an opening for the backup duties to Connor Hellebuyck. Talbot could be the perfect fit. He's inexpensive, has a ton of experience which includes taking over the crease should an injury occur. As Talbot is in the final years of his career, winning will be paramount and he could have a good chance at doing so in Winnipeg.

New Jersey Devils

This seems like a last resort type of option for the Devils, but should they miss out on some of the big name goalies on the trade market, they could look to Talbot to join Jake Allen in tandem. The Devils are interested in moving their 10th overall pick for a goalie and have held discussions with the Calgary Flames on Jacob Markstrom and the Nashville Predators on Juuse Saros. Talbot, again would be a fallback option.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators are expected to make multiple moves this offseason and GM Steve Staios has admitted he's not happy with his goaltending situation. The team just signed Joonas Korpisalo to a long-term contract and after just one season are already looking to move off the deal. Talbot knows Ottawa very well and could be a seamless fit into their crease for next season.
