NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Free-Agent Destinations For Reilly Smith
With their 1-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5, the Vegas Golden Knights have officially been knocked out of the playoffs. With this, they have some decisions to make with their roster this offseason, and one will be whether to bring back forward Reilly Smith.
Smith is a pending unrestricted free agent and will hit the market on July 1 if Vegas does not re-sign him. If he does become a free agent this summer, expect these three teams to be in the mix.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings could be interested in Smith if he hits the market this offseason. They need help on the wing, and Smith would give their top nine a nice boost because of his secondary scoring ability. On a short-term deal, he could be a nice low-risk player for the Kings to bring in.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild are likely going to add to their forward group this summer, and bringing in a player like Smith would help improve their middle six. He would give them a bit more production on their third line and would also be a clear candidate for power-play time. In addition, he would give them a player with plenty of playoff experience and a Stanley Cup on their resume.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils desperately need more offense from the bottom half of their lineup, so Smith would be a solid target for them. When looking at their group, he would slot nicely on their third line but also could jump up in the lineup if needed.
