NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Free-Agent Targets Named For Ottawa Senators

Brock Boeser, Vancouver Canucks

The Ottawa Senators took a nice step forward this season. They finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 45-30-7 record and broke their eight-year playoff drought. While they fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round, it was undoubtedly a successful year for the Sens.

Now, they are gearing up for the offseason and are expected to be aggressive. According to The Fourth Period, the Senators will look to bring in a top-six winger this summer. In addition, he named Brock Boeser, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Mikael Granlund as potential targets for the Senators if they become free agents on July 1.

Boeser, 28, appeared in 75 games this season for the Vancouver Canucks, posting 25 goals and 50 points. This is after he set career highs with 40 goals and 73 points in 81 games the campaign before. If the Senators added him, he would certainly strengthen their top six, as he is an impactful sniper.

Ehlers, 29, would also be a major pickup for the Senators if they landed him. The 2014 first-round pick posted 24 goals and 63 points in 69 games this season. With numbers like these, he would be an outstanding addition to their second line with Dylan Cozens and Drake Batherson.

Granlund, 33, is the oldest of this trio, but he is still impactful at this stage of his career. The veteran forward had a strong regular season in 2024-25, recording 22 goals and 66 points in 83 games split between the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars. He also offers excellent versatility, being able to play all three forward positions.
