NHL Rumors: 2 Montreal Canadiens Offseason Trade Candidates
The Montreal Canadiens took a nice step forward this season and got back into the playoffs because of it. Now, they are facing a big offseason and are likely to make some changes to their group.
Because of this, let's discuss two of their offseason trade candidates now.
Josh Anderson
It would not be too surprising if the Canadiens listened to offers on Anderson this summer. The Canadiens would benefit by moving on from Anderson's $5.5 million cap hit, as it would give them more money to work with to bring in a big-name talent this summer. In 81 games this season for the Canadiens, Anderson recorded 15 goals, 27 points, 176 hits, and a minus-2 rating.
Alex Newhook
Newhook is another Canadiens forward who should be watched this summer. The 2019 first-round pick has had trouble breaking out for Montreal and took a step back this season. After setting career highs with 15 goals and 34 points in just 55 games in 2023-24, Newhook had 26 points and a minus-21 rating in 82 games this season. With this, perhaps the Canadiens could be open to moving Newhook if it means landing an impactful forward that would help them now.
