NHL Rumors: 3 New York Islanders Offseason Trade Candidates
The New York Islanders will certainly be a team to watch this summer. After a disappointing 2024-25 season, there naturally have been some questions about what the Islanders could do with their roster this offseason.
Because of this, let's look at three players who the Islanders could end up trading this offseason.
Anders Lee
Lee has found himself in the rumor mill at times, and he could be a player to keep an eye on this summer because of it. The 34-year-old winger is entering the final season of his contract in 2025-26, so it is fair to wonder if he could be a player they listen to offers for if extension talks don't go well. In 82 games this season, he had 29 goals and 54 points.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Pageau is another veteran forward on the Islanders who has been the subject of trade speculation over the years. Like Lee, he is entering the final season of his contract, which makes things interesting. Teams looking for help down the middle and on their penalty kill would likely love to acquire Pageau.
Scott Mayfield
Mayfield is another Islander to watch this summer. Teams are always looking for big right-shot defenseman, so he could generate interest around the league. In 66 games this past season, he posted three goals, nine points, and a plus-18 rating. He also has a $3.5 million cap hit until the end of the 2029-30 season.
