NHL Rumors: 3 Potential Offseason Suitors For Reilly Smith
If the Vegas Golden Knights do not re-sign Reilly Smith by July 1, he will become an unrestricted free agent. If Smith does hit the market, there should be a good amount of interest in him. Due to this, let's discuss three teams who could target him this summer now.
Columbus Blue Jackets
It would not be particularly surprising if the Blue Jackets made a push for Smith this offseason. They could use another impactful forward in their middle six, and Smith would give them just that. Furthermore, his plethora of experience could make him a nice veteran for the Blue Jackets to bring, especially when noting that he could mentor their younger players.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings could be a team to watch when it comes to Smith. They would benefit by adding more secondary offensive production to their lineup, and Smith still provides that at this stage of his career. On a short-term, affordable deal, Smith would be a nice pickup for a Red Wings club desperately looking to get back into the playoffs.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks could be on the hunt for forward help this summer, and a player like Smith could get their attention because of it. When looking at their roster, Smith could fit very well in their middle six and would also be a clear option for their power play.
