3 Teams Who Could Sign Free Agent Dillon Dube

Dillon Dube, Calgary Flames
Dillon Dube will likely be looking for a team to play for back in the NHL after he was found not guilty in the trial. He last played for the Calgary Flames, who drafted him in the second round, and was improving year after year until distractions in his last half a season impacted his game.

San Jose Sharks

I am confident in saying that the San Jose Sharks have the worst bottom-6 in the NHL by a stretch. They brought in a few free agents who didn't work out with their former teams and still have some carryover depth players from their 32nd ranked team from last season. Dube put up 18 goals and 45 points as a 24-year-old in 2022-23. The Sharks have to add more NHL players to their lineup to boot someone like Ryan Reaves out of the everyday lineup since prospects like Filip Bystedt, Quentin Musty, and Igor Chernyshov aren't ready for the NHL just yet. Dube could have a bounce back and provide the Sharks with some better depth so the team takes a step forward.

Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken have made a lot of solid moves this offseason, but their extras at forward are questionable. John Hayden and Mitchell Stephens are fringe NHL players who didn't get into 30 games last season. It wouldn't hurt if one or both start the season and play the majority of next season in the AHL. Jani Nyman might be in and out of the lineup and injuries could flare up for the forward group again. The Kraken are seriously trying to get back into the playoffs and have the cap space to make one more addition that would help the bottom-6. It would only have to be for one year to see what they get from Dube.

New York Islanders

The New York Islanders were really negatively impacted by injuries last season. Who's to say that won't happen again as one of the free agents they brought in, Jonathan Drouin, has had injury troubles himself. The team is going to need more solid depth than they currently have if they want to counter that and not lose another season with some of the core pieces hanging around. And with a fully healthy lineup, I would play Dube over Kyle McLean, Pierre Engvall, and Emil Heineman.
