NHL Trade Rumors: Atlantic Division Team Linked To Blue Jackets' Yegor Chinakhov
With Yegor Chinakhov formally requesting a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Boston Bruins have emerged as a potential landing spot for the 24-year-old winger.
Chinakhov’s agent went public with the request, citing “misunderstandings” with Blue Jackets head coach Dean Evason. General manager Don Waddell acknowledged trade discussions are underway but made it clear he won’t move the 2020 first-rounder unless the return is right. Despite injury setbacks, Chinakhov has shown flashes of offensive upside, recording 29 points in 53 games in 2023–24 and adding 15 points in 30 games last season.

Why Chinakhov Could Be a Smart Fit in Boston
Boston’s offseason moves, including the additions of Viktor Arvidsson, Tanner Jeannot, and Sean Kuraly, helped boost their forward depth. But the Bruins still lack scoring punch in their middle six, and Chinakhov offers an intriguing mix of skill and youth.
Chinakhov’s heavy shot, off-puck instincts, and power play potential make him an ideal buy-low candidate, especially with only one year left on a $2.1 million deal. If healthy, he could carve out a meaningful role and potentially push for second-line minutes.

Will the Bruins Make a Move or Let the Market Play Out?
While the Bruins aren’t the only team eyeing Chinakhov, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings have also been mentioned, Boston might have the clearest fit. Chinakhov wants a fresh start and a more defined role, which the Bruins can offer.
With his trade value suppressed by health concerns and a public dispute with Columbus’ coaching staff, Boston GM Don Sweeney could seize this as a low-risk, high-upside swing to bolster his scoring core, especially if Waddell’s asking price drops closer to training camp.
