NHL Rumors: Insider Links Anaheim Ducks to Jason Robertson

The drama surrounding Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars is apparently going to come to a conclusion in short order, according to insider Jeff Marek. And he links the two-time 40-goal man to the ready-to-contend-again Anaheim Ducks.

Appearing on Daily Faceoff's DFO Rundown, Marek starts by saying that the Stars themselves want to get this whole situation taken care of quickly. Robertson has one season left on his $7.75 million cap hit and is eligible for a big extension.

I don't think that the Dallas Stars are going to let the Jason Robertson question linger deep into the summer; I think they're going to find out pretty quick what number he's looking at. I don't know that Dallas wants to go any higher than $10 million (AAV) on Jason Robertson...

I think Dallas will probably have an idea in pretty quick order here early in July what the future is for (him) in that organization.

The Anaheim Ducks are a potential Jason Robertson destination

Marek then goes on to submit that if the Stars feel they have to cut bait and trade their 26-year-old All-Star forward, the Anaheim Ducks, who have been movers & shakers already this summer, are a realistic destination.

I still don't think Anaheim's done... Could that be a landing spot for Jason Robertson? They're looking for goals in Anaheim, he's a California kid, etc. etc., you start connecting the dots here. That one is going to be a fascinating story to watch.

Robertson was born in Los Angeles County.

He finished this past season with 35 goals and 80 points, and has two 40-goal seasons in the past four years.

The Ducks have been active this summer, in addition to bringing in three-time Stanley Cup-winning head coach Joel Quenneville, they've added veteran leaders like Chris Kreider (trade) and Mikael Granlund (free agency). Robertson would be a sensational addition that could push them firmly into playoff contender status.
