Penguins Trade Rumors: 3 Teams Named as Potential Sidney Crosby Destinations

Every team in the league would want Sidney Crosby on their team, there's no doubt at that. There's also the fact to this point, Crosby hasn't indicated to Penguins management that he'd be open to a trade to finish his career with another franchise.

However, that hasn't stopped the trade rumors in the past and recently, Frank Seravalli linked the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, and Montreal Canadiens as the three teams likely at the top of the list when it comes to potential destinations.

Crosby, 37, has a full no-movement clause, and given all he's done for the Penguins' franchise, would be heavily involved in the trade talks. Crosby is under contract at $8.7 million AAV for two more seasons, one of the most affordable contracts in all of sports, considering what he's accomplished throughout his career.

The Penguins are in fire sale mode, but to this point haven't approached Crosby regarding a change of scenery. There's been reports they've indicated to Evgeni Malkin he won't be re-signed after his current deal is up, and Kyle Dubas has made Erik Karlsson, Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, Noel Acciari, and Ryan Graves available on the trade market.

For now, Crosby stays, but if the Penguins open up next season in a world of trouble, which many are predicting, there's a very good chance the trade talks advance, and we see #87 in another jersey.
