Top-6 Players Canucks Can Still Target This Offseason

Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks look incomplete, and that can't be the case when the season starts if they want to not only compete for a playoff spot, but for the Stanley Cup. Many are counting them out, and for good reason considering the team doesn't have J.T. Miller anymore, there is a ton of cap space eaten up in goaltending, injuries could resurface from last season, and the depth isn't great.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported that the Canucks want to do more. They still want to add a top-6 player. But who is even left for Vancouver to target? It won't come from free agency, so they will have to delve into the trade market to upgrade, if they can.

It has already been reported by multiple insiders that trades are likely to pick up at some point this summer. There has been a little bit of a lull since ahead of free agency, but the thick of free agency has come and gone and many teams are left wanting more, like Vancouver.

Some players that the Canucks would love to have include Marco Rossi, Mason McTavish, Nazem Kadri, Jared McCann, or even Jonathan Marchessault, Evan Rodrigues, or J.G. Pageau. I could even see the Canucks going down a path where Jesperi Kotkaniemi is brought in as a later resort.

The Canucks need a top-6 center more than a winger, but I don't think they will be too picky if they can upgrade one way or another. They have committed to getting better and staying in contention rather than rebuilding. That will be the case until Quinn Hughes makes his decision. But for now, more has to be done to satisfy their best player and be better than last season.
