3 Golden Knights Entering Their Final Year With Vegas

Jonas Rondbjerg, Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights are no strangers to making moves to constantly make their team better. They have only missed the playoffs once in their history and aren't going to add to that this season after getting Mitch Marner. The team has core players, but there are always shuffling around with the rest, especially if they don't necessarily perform. So these are three Golden Knights expected to be entering the final year with the team.

Colton Sissons

Colton Sissons seems like a one-year rental player to play fourth line center as the team had to fill the hole Nic Roy left when he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He is a strong defensive player, but struggled offensively last season compared to the heights he can reach. The Golden Knights acquired him and he should play the role of a depth two-way forward well. It will be tougher for his offense to return to where it can be and at full price, he would be too expensive for Vegas to pay for a fourth liner. He should be testing free agency after this season.

Jonas Rondbjerg

Jonas Rondbjerg was drafted by the Golden Knights in 2017 and hasn't been able to make it or stick in the NHL. He has split the past four seasons between the NHL and AHL, totaling three goals and 10 points in 76 career games for the Golden Knights. He signed a one-year deal to continue to play for the Golden Knights, but he is a UFA after next season and there is a good chance it ends and he signs somewhere else, even overseas.

Ben Hutton

Alex Pietrangelo's future is a bit of a mystery, but if he's back, a defenseman is most definitely gone after the season. And if he isn't, I still think that's the case from the player's point of view and potentially the team. Vegas always makes moves thinking they are improving. Ben Hutton has been a decent fill-in option for the team when they've needed it, but has one year left on his deal. Jeremy Lauzon, just acquired alongside Sissons, is also going into the final year of his deal. If I were to pick who the Golden Knights will choose to try to keep around, it's going to be Lauzon with his physicality and ability to play on the second pairing as well as 18+ minutes per game. Hutton isn't that type of player. He may be kept around as organizational depth, but he may also think he has a better shot somewhere else as a free agent.
