Dylan Holloway Opens Up With Bitter Comments About the Oilers
There has yet to be an Offer Sheet this offseason in the NHL, and it appears there likely won't be. But the seismic impact of last summer's dual Offer Sheets by the St. Louis Blues on young Edmonton Oilers Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg is still being felt.
Holloway appeared on the Cam&Strick podcast this past week and opened up about the way the Oilers treated him in contract talks as an RFA. And to say he was not happy is an understatement.

“It rubbed me the wrong way how little Edmonton thought of me in our contract negotiations… I’m an Alberta boy, I wanted to go back to a team we went so far with but as soon as Edmonton didn’t reciprocate that feeling I was all in on St. Louis” pic.twitter.com/DcypPLidH1

Holloway was the Oilers' first-round pick, 14th overall, in the 2020 NHL Draft. But the team hadn't given him much of an opportunity, as he received just 10 minutes of ice time per night in his two seasons in Edmonton (as well as stretches at the AHL), and totalled nine goals and 18 points in 89 games across those two years.
The Blues came in with a two-year offer sheet on a $2.290 million AAV per year. And what a steal that turned out to be for St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong. Holloway exploded with a breakthrough season with 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points in 77 games.
Insider thinks losing Holloway & Broberg has McDavid thinking
The ramifications continue in Edmonton. Insider Elliotte Friedman even stated on his 32 Thoughts podcast this past week that the loss of Holloway and Broberg is quite likely one of the things that's sticking in the back of Connor McDavid's mind as he continues to take his time to decide on when/if to sign an extension with the Oilers.
"It's impossible to believe it's not (having an impact)," Friedman said.
McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman learned of the Holloway & Broberg signings while having lunch with the Blues' Robert Thomas, and they were none too pleased.
Fun fact from Robert Thomas today at the NHL Player Media Tour:

When the offer sheet news broke, he was *with* multiple Oilers players including Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Awkward moment and Thomas explained that they weren't too happy 😂
"Yeah, they weren't too happy about it," Thomas recounted. "A couple of them were just looking at me like, 'What the hell is going on here?'"
And after watching Holloway go off for 26 goals last season, that displeasure can only have ramped up.
