Maple Leafs Rumors: Toronto Could Move One Of Two Players To Sign Jack Roslovic

Toronto Maple Leafs players discuss during 2024 game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs remain in the mix for Jack Roslovic, with multiple insiders saying the club is keeping tabs on the 28-year-old scorer while it tries to make some cap space.

Frank Seravalli reported the Leafs are “very much in contention” and still in contact with Roslovic’s camp, though nothing is close. Elliotte Friedman has similarly noted since July that Toronto would need to clear room before any signing becomes realistic.

Recent chatter around potential trades involving David Kämpf or Calle Järnkrok fits that picture.

Jack Roslovic to Maple Leafs: where the cap stands

Toronto’s available space sits a shade under 2 million dollars, which likely is not enough to land Roslovic without another move. That matches up with reports that the Leafs are shopping depth forwards to free money and a roster spot.

Both Kämpf and Järnkrok carry 10-team no-trade lists, which can slow the process, but interest should pick up as camps near.

Roslovic is coming off a 22-goal, 39-point season and remains one of the top UFAs on the board. Toronto can view him as a flexible middle-six add who can skate with top talent and push internal competition among new arrivals.

If the Leafs can free up space, namely by moving one of Kampf or Jarnkrok, there's a good chance they are able to bring Roslovic in.
