Maple Leafs Rumors: Team Struggling To Find Forward Trade That Makes Sense

Calle Jarnkrok, Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs don't seem to be done making moves, if they are able to. There are three forwards in particular that there have been rumors they are being shopped around all summer. This includes Nick Robertson, David Kampf, and Calle Jarnkrok.

It's no secret that there are more than enough capable everyday forwards on the Maple Leafs, and there is also the question of if Easton Cowan is ready for at least half a season in the NHL in 2025-26. That would take up another spot, not to mention what the team looks to add at the trade deadline.

Chris Johnston said, "I get the sense the Leafs front office has been looking at trading away some of the forward depth and haven't really been able to find anything that makes sense, which is why you still have all of Kampf, Robertson, and Jarnkrok with the team."

Robertson holds the highest value, but Johnston also added, "I still think he's very open to moving on, but the Leafs still see something in him." As for Kampf and Jarnkrok, there hasn't been a deal worked out with anyone despite alright value from each of them. I think we wait and see what goes on early in the season if players start to get injured and teams look for replacements. The Florida Panthers could already be one with the injury to Aleksander Barkov.

If the Maple Leafs had it their way, I think Jarnkrok would be the first to go considering his injury history, Kampf would be next since his cap hit would help free up some space, and Robertson would be the last option due to their feelings on him.
