Nashville Predators sign Dylan Gambrell to PTO
The Nashville Predators have added to their roster just days before training camp opens, as they've signed forward Dylan Gambrell to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Anthony DiMarco of Daily Faceoff was the first to report the news. Gambrell spent last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he made the league minimum $775,000. He'll do what he can to turn some heads at training camp in Nashville, and hopefully for his sake, get into some preseason action to show his skills and potential impact he could have on their roster.
Gambrell is also eligible to sign a one or two-way contract with any team throughout training camp and the preseason, so there's still some options available in case the Preds don't like what they see.
Last season, the former 2016 second-round pick of the San Jose Sharks spent the entire season in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters. Gambrell scored 13 goals and 25 points in 54 regular season games, and added two goals in six playoff games.
The University of Denver product made his NHL debut back in 2017-18 with the Sharks, spending parts of four seasons with San Jose. Along with the Ottawa Senators organization, Gambrell has also spent parts of the last two seasons in the Toronto Maple Leafs system.
Now, he'll look to make an impact with the Predators and add some depth to Nashville's bottom six.
