New Jersey Devils sign 4 Players to PTO's
The New Jersey Devils have been busy of late as the team announced they've handed out four professional tryout agreements, with invitations to training camp.
Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald has agreed with veteran forwards Kevin Rooney and Luke Glendening, along with goaltenders Georgi Romanov and Adam Scheel.
The NHL's free-agent market is uber thin, so we're seeing several players getting PTO's instead, as they'll look to turn some heads at camp and carve out a name for themselves. Rooney, 32, broke in with the Devils back in 2016-17. He's appeared in 330 career NHL games, scoring 32 goals and adding 28 assists. Along with the Devils, Rooney has suited up for the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames.
Glendening, 36, is a shut-down fourth-line defensive-minded center, who has played for several teams throughout his decorated career, including more recently with the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning. Glendening also spent eight seasons in the bottom six of the Detroit Red Wings. In 864 career games, he's collected 83 goals and 166 points.
As for the goalies, Romanov was in the San Jose Sharks organization the past couple of seasons, he's made 10 NHL appearances, posting a .888 save percentage. Last season in the AHL Romanov registered a .904 save percentage.
Scheel is 26, and has yet to play an NHL game. Last season with the AHL's Colorado Eagles, Scheel went 10-2-2, with a 2.62 goals against average.
