Sidney Crosby on future: 'Pittsburgh is where I want to be'
After his agent Pat Brisson fueled trade speculation with his recent comments on how a trade is a possibility, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby did his best to put some water on the flames on Monday.
Crosby was making his annual rounds throughout the Pittsburgh area meeting with season seat holders at their homes, and also took time to meet with the media and answer a few questions.
"There's a lot of narratives out there, and I don't think a lot of those have come from me," Crosby told reporters while delivering season tickets to fans Monday, per The Athletic's Josh Yohe. "This is where I want to be. I love it here.""I think Pat knows how much I put into this, how much I love it. How much I want to be in the playoffs," Crosby said. "Whether those quotes were taken for what they were or if there was a different question put into those quotes, I don't know the backstory. Pat and I didn't have a conversation prior to him talking."
The 38-year-old future hall-of-famer has two seasons left on his contract at $8.7 million AAV. Crosby holds a no-movement clause and can't be traded without his approval. He's shown no signs of slowing down of late, as he's coming off a strong 90-point season. It's the losing in Pittsburgh that's taking a toll on him, and if the Penguins don't get off to a strong start this season, frankly, a trade is very possible.Sid met with the media while delivering season tickets and said the rumors out there haven’t come from him, and that Pittsburgh is where he wants to be 👀

The three-time Stanley Cup champion would quickly become the hottest trade chip on the market, and despite the levels of interest, it's expected the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche would be near the top of his preferred destinations.
