Blues Lose Jake Neighbours For Lengthy Period
Burgeoning young forward Jake Neighbours has been off to a hot start for the St. Louis Blues, but that will come to a halt due to a lower-body injury. Neighbours has been placed on injured reserve and will miss at least five weeks.

Neighbours will be re-evaluated at that time to see how his right leg injury is progressing. The injury occurred during Saturday's game, coming after he blocked a hard shot with his right knee, then went awkwardly into the boards skate-first and appeared to be in pain on his way to the bench. He did, however, finish the game before sitting out the Blues' loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday.
The 23-year-old winger had established himself as a legitimate scorer in the Blues' middle six the past couple of seasons, totaling 49 goals over that time. He also handed out 173 hits last year. This season, he's really stepped it up, leading the team in goals with six, while earning his way up from the third line onto the top line. His production and tenacity will be missed for a team that's already struggling.
Neighbours was a first-round selection of St. Louis in the 2020 NHL Draft (26th overall).
It's another tough break for the Blues, who are off to a tough start to the season at 3-5-1, and losers of four straight.
