The deal hands Connor a $12 million AAV. According to insider Darren Dreger, the contract contains $55 million in salary and $41 million signing bonuses over the eight years.
Connor, 28, was set to be an unrestricted free agent after the season, so the Jets fended off a lot of nervous times around Winnipeg by getting this deal done before puck drop on opening night.
While recent rumors out of Winnipeg had suggested a range of $12M to $14M was possible for the star winger's next deal, he wound up settling for a contract that was exactly what had been projected by AFP Analytics.
Connor, 28, had his second 40+ goal season last year with 41, along with a career-high 97 points and a personal best plus/minus rating of +17. He was the Jets' first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and now he'll remain in Winnipeg until 2034.
He's wrapping up a seven-year, $50 million contract with a $7.142 million cap hit.
