Canucks Trade Rumors: Insider Names 5 Trade Targets
The NHL's trade market has been quiet early on this season, but that's expected to change in the coming days as the Vancouver Canucks are actively discussing several deals.
The Canucks are going through a slew of injury troubles and are currently down four regulars, including two centers. Hockey insider Frank Seravalli could see the Canucks making a move here soon, and listed out several players who could be available now, but also a couple who if Vancouver is patient, could be available closer to the Olympic break. We'll just have to see how patient Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin are.
Frank Seravalli: Re Canucks center search: You've got Alex Wennberg out in San Jose, you could bring Adam Gaudette back; Ryan Poehling; if you wanna wait...we could be talking about...Pageau; Kevin Hayes...could he be a guy - Frankly Hockey (10/22)
Wennberg is an interested target, because as a pending unrestricted free agent, and with the dismal San Jose Sharks, he's a prime trade candidate, it's just going to come down to when. Wennberg's recorded three points in six games so far this season, and is coming off a 35-point season a year ago. Gaudette is also on the Sharks, and has two goals in his first six games with his new club. Gaudette parts of four seasons with the Canucks organization from 2017-2021.
The Canucks have $1.2 million in cap space to work with, it's just they don't necessarily have cupboards full of trade candidates. They do hold their first and second-round picks in next year's draft, which could come into play, and don't be surprised to hear Aatu Raty's name brought up as a potential trade chip, along with Chase Stillman or Vitali Kravtsov.
Keep an eye on the Canucks, they've been hammered by the injury bug, and there's a move coming soon enough.
