Pittsburgh Penguins Announce Bryan Rust Injury News

Bryan Rust, Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that forward Bryan Rust will be out for the next two weeks at least due to a lower-body injury.

With this news, the Penguins will not have Rust in the lineup for the start of their regular season. This is certainly tough news for the Penguins, as Rust is one of their top forwards. As a result, they will undoubtedly miss him in their lineup while he is sidelined.

Rust is coming off a career year with the Penguins in 2024-25, as he set new career highs with 31 goals, 34 assists, and 65 points in 71 games. This was after he posted 28 goals, 28 assists, and 56 points in 62 games with the Penguins during the 2023-24 season.

Rust is entering his 12th season with the Penguins in 2025-26. In 638 games with the Penguins over that span, he has recorded 203 goals, 234 assists, 437 points, 398 blocks, 783 hits, and a plus-38 rating. He has also won the Stanley Cup two times during his time with the Penguins.

Rust was the subject of trade rumors throughout this offseason, but he remains with the Penguins at this time. It will be interesting to see what kind of year he puts together in 2025-26 once he is able to return to game action from here.
