Chicago Blackhawks Frank Nazar injured vs. Calgary Flames
The Chicago Blackhawks hope it's nothing too serious for forward Frank Nazar.
Nazar fell very awkwardly during the first period of Friday's game against the Calgary Flames, and did not return. Nazar was seen grabbing his knee in what looked like a potential sprain or tear, but at this point, no word yet on the severity, or how long he'll be out of the Blackhawks' lineup.
The 21-year-old Nazar has been off to a strong start to the 2025-26 season as he's recorded five goals and 11 points through the first 15 games. He was rewarded with a massive contract extension last offseason, signing a six-year deal at $6.6 million AAV, and with the Blackhawks taking big steps this season, it's been a very encouraging start from their group. Connor Bedard is second in the league in points, but having Nazar in the lineup for secondary offense is going to be key to their consistent success, so the organization is holding their breath it's nothing too serious, and just a sprain. Here's the play where Nazar was injured:
Nazar spent his first two post-draft seasons at the University of Michigan before turning pro with the Blackhawks at the end of the 2023-24. The Blackhawks went on to beat the Flames, thanks to a four point night from Bedard, and now move to 7-5-3 on the season. The Blackhawks make an announcement on Frank Nazar, who left after this play: pic.twitter.com/gd911dsIrl https://t.co/jtDXNQAo5X
