New Jersey Devils' Jack Hughes undergoes surgery, out 8 weeks
Jack Hughes can't catch a break.
The New Jersey Devils announced on Saturday, Hughes underwent surgery on his pinky finger, and is expected to be out for two months. He'll be re-evaluated in six weeks to confirm his timelines.
Hughes was injured in a freak accident at a team dinner recently, as his injury woes continue. Hughes, 24, has appeared in 17 games this season, scoring 10 times and adding 10 assists. Hughes has yet to play an 80-game season throughout his career and has only dressed in 62, 62, 78, 49, 56, and 61 games his rookie year.
The New Jersey Devils have provided the following medical update:

The Devils move on without their best player and enter Saturday's action with a 12-4-1 record, good for top spot in the Metropolitan Division. Nico Hischier will be called upon even more now, and the same can be said for Dawson Mercer, as these two will need to carry the offense in the mean time.
