NHL News: Avalanche Sign Scott Wedgewood To Contract Extension
The Colorado Avalanche have made a move, as they have signed goaltender Scott Wedgewood to a one-year, $2.5 million contract extension.
Seeing the Avalanche sign Wedgewood to a contract extension is not necessarily surprising, as he has been excellent for them early on this season. In 14 games for the Avalanche so far this campaign, the 33-year-old goaltender has recorded a 10-1-2 record, a .913 save percentage, and a 2.26 goals-against average.
Wedgewood has not been slowing down as the season carries on, either, as he has won each of his last five appearances and has had a .913 save percentage or better in four of them. This included him stopping 35 out of 36 shots in his most recent appearance against the Anaheim Ducks on Nov. 11, which equates to a .972 save percentage.
Wedgewood has also been impactful for the Avalanche since they acquired him from the Nashville Predators this past season. In 19 games with the Avalanche during the 2024-25 season, he recorded an 18-13-4 record, a 1.99 goals-against average, a 1.99 goals-against average, and two shutouts.
