NHL Rumors: 3 Buffalo Sabres Trade Candidates To Watch
The Buffalo Sabres have had mixed results early on this season, and this is made apparent by their 5-5-4 record. The Sabres’ shaky start currently has them at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings, which is bad news for a team looking to break its 14-year playoff drought.
If the Sabres are unable to move up in the standings as the season continues, they will likely be sellers this campaign. Because of this, let’s look at three Sabres who could be traded if things don’t improve in Buffalo.
Alex Tuch
Alex Tuch has been the subject of trade speculation early on this season. The star winger is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) and would be a massive pickup for any contender looking to add more scoring to their top six. If he does not have an extension by the deadline, the Sabres may have no choice but to trade him.
Bowen Byram
Bowen Byram was a popular name in the rumor mill this summer before he signed his two-year contract to stay in Buffalo. However, with Byram’s new deal only being two years, there have still been some questions about his long-term future with the Sabres. Thus, if the Sabres continue to struggle, Byram could be a good trade chip for Buffalo to use to shake up their roster.
Owen Power
Owen Power is also an interesting player to watch from the Sabres. His name has come up in the rumor mill, and he could benefit from a change of scenery. The 2021 first-overall pick would likely have a ton of suitors if he is made available and could get the Sabres a very good return in a potential deal.
