Stunning Number Of Teams Have Reached Out To Flames About Blake Coleman

Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman skates before 2025 game.

The Calgary Flames are not rushing anything with Blake Coleman, but the phone has not stopped ringing.

Insider Frank Seravalli says 20 teams have already checked in on the veteran winger. If Calgary decides to move him, the market is going to be loud.

Blake Coleman trade buzz is bigger than expected

Seravalli’s note is especially interesting because Coleman has drawn more early interest than Nazem Kadri, even with Kadri being the bigger name. The simple reality is that Coleman is easier to fit. He has one year left at $4.9 million, while Kadri’s term and cap hit make any deal a lot heavier for contenders to carry.

Coleman also fits the exact need teams chase every winter, the type of middle-six forward who can play meaningful minutes when the games tighten up.

Calgary Flames can wait for a Blake Coleman overpay

That is why the Flames can afford to sit back and demand something that actually moves the needle. Coleman is 34, but he is still producing with 10 goals and 17 points in 36 games, and he has been a menace on the penalty kill with three shorthanded goals.

Add in the Stanley Cup pedigree from his Tampa Bay Lightning run, and it is easy to see why so many teams are circling.

Clubs like the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche, and others fighting for position are always hunting for a player who can steal them a few points in the standings and hold up in a playoff series.
