Philp, 27, is an undrafted product of Canmore, AB and has had quite the hockey journey to eventually land with the Oilers. So far this season, Philp has appeared in 15 games, scoring twice and adding one assist, for three points.
Philp has averaged just over 10 minutes of ice-time per game, and was used as a depth penalty killer. Considering the underachieving depth pieces in Edmonton, and their need for help at center, this move to waive Philp has surprised many.
Noah Philp would have greater success playing with Jack Roslovic than Frederic/Janmark/Jones or any other plug we currently have in the bottom 6.

Maybe they should keep Noah Philp in the lineup???

Philp is under contract for this season at $775,000 and is a pending unrestricted free agent. The Hurricanes enter the week with a 23-11-3 record, sitting atop of the Metropolitan Division.
