Contender In West Linked To Blues' Kyrou
The Anaheim Ducks have taken another big stride this season and are real contenders in the Western Conference. They have been holding down or battling for the division lead in the Pacific and are good enough to finish in the top three at the end of the season.
The Ducks are deep and have talent, but they have some veterans they can swap out for better and younger talent, pending UFAs, and a ton of money and assets to upgrade. That is likely what they intend to do this season to last them years to come. According to reports, they have their eyes on the St. Louis Blues and that mess.
David Pagnotta said, "The Anaheim Ducks have a lot of pieces to potentially make a package for a player like Jordan Kyrou."
While the Ducks are tied for first in the Pacific Division, the Blues are out of a playoff spot and have 13 wins in 36 games this season. Neither has started making trades yet, but trades are starting to occur around the league. Kyrou isn't at the top of the list of players the Blues want to trade, but he only has eight goals and 16 points in 28 games this season and the youth are starting to break in with players like Dylan Holloway, Jimmy Snuggerud, Dalibor Dvorsky, Otto Stenberg, Jake Neighbours, and Aleksanteri Kaskimaki at forward.
Involved in the return might have to be players like Pavel Mintyukov, Sam Colangelo, Tim Washe, Sasha Pastujov, Eric Nilson, and Maxim Masse, but not all of them of course. The Blues are trying to slim down on the veterans with big contracts and trade protection. Those contracts handed out haven't done them good over the past number of years, but they have drafted and developed well for the next wave of talent.
The Blues definitely have some work to do and the Ducks are in a position to compete and add some high-value talent. It makes sense to go after a team like St. Louis for a struggling player like Kyrou to make the forward depth even better and elevate the team even further.
