Flyers' Tippet Getting Interest From Canucks, More Teams

Owen Tippett, Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers aren't a complete team and are going to change more before becoming true Stanley Cup contenders. They might make the playoffs this season, but there are some players who will be on their way out eventually. One of those may very well be Owen Tippett.

According to David Pagnotta, "I think the Canucks are one of the teams that have some interest in Owen Tippett. I think there are a few others that have also poked around."

Tippett is an interesting player because he can go hot and cold. He is currently playing on the top line of the Flyers and has nine goals and 18 points in 26 games this season. His contract might make things pretty difficult to move him as he has six years left on his deal after this season at $6.2 million AAV. Interestingly enough, the Flyers are the type of team that a player like Tippett would be going to. A team on the rise with use of a goal scorer on the wing who isn't too old, but is experienced.

Tippett broke out after being traded to the Flyers and has produced 20+ goals and 43+ points in three consecutive seasons. He is also on pace to do so this season again, possibly even set new career highs as he is on pace to tie his career high in goals (28) and surpass his career high in points (projected 56 points).

If the Flyers were looking to free up cap space or use Tippett in a bigger deal, say one that may involve Quinn Hughes, then it makes sense to move him, but he is a player who contributes to the success of their team and is a good age, around where the core of the team is.

Even without an injury to Tyson Foerster, the forward depth of the Flyers isn't good right now. If anything, they will need to add forward help rather than give some away. But nothing is out of the question as the Flyers try to build something this season and beyond.
