NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Teams Making Trade Offers for Flames' Rasmus Andersson

With Quinn Hughes off the market, all the attention has turned to Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson. It's only a matter of time before the Flames pull the trigger on a move, and it sounds like a deal could be going down shortly after the holiday roster freeze, which kicks in Friday.

Andersson is having a monster season for the Flames, is playing over 24 minutes a night, in all situations, and he's currently second on the team in points, behind only Nazem Kadri. There's been plenty of speculation of late about where the 29-year-old right-handed blueliner will land, and here's three teams to keep an eye on:

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs have a huge need for Andersson as they look for ways to re-tool their blueline on the fly. Troy Stecher has made a huge impact, but the team can't stay healthy, and the likes of Brandon Carlo and Morgan Rielly have underperformed, to say the very least. Prospect Ben Danford and winger Nick Robertson could be included in this trade.

Dallas Stars

Elliotte Friedman always says to keep an eye on the first team linked to a player, and the Stars were exactly that dating back to last season. They want to make a move to keep pace in their division, and they have the draft capital and prospects to make it work. Defenceman Nils Lundqvist could also be involved here.

Detroit Red Wings

The Wings swung and missed on Hughes and now can turn their attention to landing a Swedish defenceman, something the organization is very familiar with. Detroit has surprised many people this season with their success and with a loaded prospect pool, lots of young NHL talent, and cap space to pull it off, the Wings are a serious suitor to land Andersson this season.
