Surprisingly Western Conference Team Linked To Blues' Kyrou
The St. Louis Blues are three points out of a playoff spot in the West and have a game in hand, but a team that is under .500 isn't going to make the playoffs when it's all said and done. There have been many discussions surrounding players to be traded from the Blues this season, and Jordan Kyrou is one of them.
The difference with Kyrou and the majority of the players involved in trade rumors on the Blues is that he's relatively young and has term left on his contract. At this point with the new young players and prospects getting opportunities and taking advantage of them, Kyrou's time in St. Louis should be limited. He needs a change in scenery and a place where he can be one of the top guys offensively again without much resistance from within the organization.
David Pagnotta said, "Jordan Kyrou is believed to be on the potential radar of the Seattle Kraken." This is a team that tried to take strides two offseasons ago by signing Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour to long-term deals. Combined with their plethora of young talent already broken into the NHL or on the way, this is a team that should be on the rise and ready to become relevant in a short time.
Unfortunately, it has been another season of disappointment so far as Seattle has two wins in the past 10 games and is tied for last in the NHL. The Kraken have $6.6 million in cap space to work with this season, but if they remain close to where they are in the standings, they will be moving some players on expiring contracts.
At the same time, that doesn't mean the Kraken can't also add for the future and make a deal with another underperforming team that is changing up their roster in St. Louis. The Kraken have a depleted lineup and regularly deal with injuries. They already dealt Mason Marchment to get the ball rolling and have Jared McCann and Jaden Schwartz on the IR, so someone like Kyrou could come in and be a strong top-6 winger. The Kraken have trouble scoring and the futures of Jordan Eberle and Eeli Tolvanen are uncertain after this season.
