6 Big-Name Blues Listed As Trade Candidates

Jordan Kyrou, St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues are three games under .500, have only 19 wins in 49 games, and are third last in the NHL right now. This might not be their year and they are absolutely in need of some changes to the roster, particularly around the bigger name players, to get things turned around. All of them don't have to be moved, and won't, but there is interest in multiple.

David Pagnotta said, "Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko, Brayden Schenn, Justin Faulk, Jordan Binnington, and Jordan Kyrou have been in trade talks."

From what has been circulating most of the season, we can add Thomas and Parayko there as more surprising players listed. Thomas is the top line center, but is currently injured, and Parayko, though he isn't having one of his best seasons, was still selected to Team Canada for the Olympics, whether or not you think that's because the GM for Canada is also the GM for the Blues.

Trading Thomas and/or Parayko would be the biggest shift for the franchise and even though Thomas is on the younger side at 26 years old, the team would be left to the younger group and might take a few years to retool/rebuild the way they want.

Schenn has two more years left on his contract, Faulk has one, Binnington has one, and Kyrou has the longest term remaining with five more years, but is the youngest at 27 years old. One thing is for certain, Binnington has to go. Joel Hofer is the starter, or should be if the Blues were really trying to have the best chance at winning every night. The veteran's numbers have dropped way off from his NHL debut and has only gone downhill since.

Schenn and Faulk have been linked to multiple teams throughout the season, and it just seems inevitable that they will both be dealt by the trade deadline. That would be the logical and smart decision to get some good assets back, even if the Blues have to retain some money on Schenn. Both were linked to the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the Rasmus Andersson acquisition.

The Blues really took a step back this season and injuries didn't help. But performance has also played a big part in the fall. The team needs a reset and some players have to go from this group of six.
