Logan Stanley Suspended For Sucker Punch on Brady Tkachuk

Logan Stanley has paid the price for his sucker punch on an unsuspecting Brady Tkachuk. The NHL's Department of Safety has handed down a one-game suspension to Stanley.

The incident came in Saturday night's game against the Winnipeg Jets after the Ottawa Senators' captain was bumped into his own bench by Stanley. Tkachuk then shoved him back, while still trying to follow what was happening in the play. A linesman tried to break them up, and both players still had their gloves on, though Tkachuk's helmet had come off.

That's when Stanley suddenly dropped his gloves and delivered a shot to the face of Tkachuk.

NHL Player Safety's ruling noted that "at no point in this altercation does Tkachuk show any interest in participating in a fight. His gloves remain on his hand... as he continues to monitor the play down ice.

"With no reason to suspect that Tkachuk is ready or willing to fight, Stanley drops his gloves and delivers a forceful bare-fisted punch to Tkachuk's face.

"This is roughing."

Stanley had not had any fines or suspensions previously, otherwise it's possible he could received a stiffer punishment.

Tkachuk missed 20 games with a thumb injury earlier this season, and seemed to be favoring his hand after the altercation.
