NHL Trade Rumors: Blues' Schenn Could Be Heading to Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights already made one blockbuster trade this season why the acquired right-handed defenceman Rasmus Andersson from the Calgary Flames, now, they could be turning their attention to some help up front.
The Golden Knights continue to be linked to the St. Louis Blues, and while the Blues have a few big names that could be available, many feel Vegas will zone in on captain Brayden Schenn. The Golden Knights organization knows Schenn very well, dating all the way back to his early years in hockey, so this familiarity could be a major player when it comes to exactly what they'd be willing to give up in the deal.
Schenn, 34, has two seasons left on his contract at $6.5 million AAV, and owns a 15-team no-trade clause, so he certainly has some say in the matter. He's produced just 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 50 games this season, although he does a ton in all three zones to help contribute on a nightly basis.
Recently, Daily Faceoff's Tyler Yaremchuk was discussing Schenn's future and had this to say on a potential landing spot:
He’s honestly maybe the most fascinating player on this list. 34 years old, comes with that Stanley Cup pedigree. $6.5 million cap hit that is not egregious at all. If St. Louis moves him, though, they will get an absolute haul for this guy. I keep connecting him to the Golden Knights because of the Kelly McCrimmon thing…If St. Louis truly makes him available, they’ll be calling.
Don't be surprised to see Vegas make a serious offer, and it's likely going to include their 2026 second-rounder, Alex Holtz, a top prospect, and at least one more roster player to make the dollars, make sense.
