NHLTR Mock Trade: St. Louis Blues trade Jordan Binnington to Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are looking for a veteran goaltender who has Stanley Cup Playoff experience, and currently on the trade market, there's no better option than St. Louis Blues netminder Jordan Binnington.

Despite a tough start to this season on a struggling Blues squad, Binnington proved his worth at the Olympics for Team Canada, and is now certainly skyrocketing up the trade boards of onlooking teams, like the Canadiens, who are searching for an upgrade in net.

Daily Faceoff's Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton recently discussed the Blues and Canadiens making a move, and laid out a very interesting mock trade that makes a ton of sense for both sides:

The Canadiens have $1.2 million in cap space to work with at the moment, and Binnington is owed $6 million this season and next, so there's going to be someone else heading back to St. Louis than just Sam Montembeault and his $3.1 million AAV, unless the Blues are open to retaining salary, which could allow them to cash in huge on Montreal's high end prospects.

Binnington knows how to handle himself under pressure, and playing in Montreal during a playoff run seems like the perfect fit.
