Report: Dallas Stars Players 'Miffed' With Jason Robertson
My question to this individual close to the situation was 'Has there been any traction in the last little bit here? Are you anywhere closer?'... The answer was 'No.' Two letters. One word. No.
He added that several teams have been internally discussing an offer sheet for Robertson, and some have even reached out to the player's camp to, "at the very least, understand where things are on that front."
Marek, however, took it one step further, and brought it around to Robertson's Dallas Stars teammates.
I know that there are some players that are miffed by it... There were players that called Jason Robertson over the last little while to say, 'Hey, like, we're a good team. $12 million is a lot. $12 million goes a lot farther then if you were in Seattle or Ottawa...
We're a good team. We're close to being a Stanley Cup team. What are you doing here?'
Marek then added that his mates in Dallas are also not thrilled with the fact that Robertson is posting pictures on social media of him having a grand old time at World Cup games while "(GM) Jim Nill and owner Tom Gaglardi are having, like, an existential crisis about the Dallas Stars. I don't think that's going over very well either with the organization, to be blunt."
Robertson has already turned down a $15M AAV offer on a long-term deal with the Seattle Kraken after the Stars had tentatively arranged for a sign-and-trade. Whether it was the number, or the city of Seattle, or the organization's future, is unknown.
But that $15M ask might just have gone up considerably, after the mind-blowing $18M AAV offer sheet signed by Leo Carlsson.
This will be the next really big shoe (skate?) to drop in the NHL this summer.
