St. Louis Blues claim Jack Finley off waivers from Tampa Bay Lightning

The St. Louis Blues are adding some depth down the middle of the ice, as the Blues have claimed center Jack Finley off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Finley, 23 has appeared in 22 games for the Lightning this season, scoring two goals, and adding one assist for three points. He's been averaging just 8:24 of ice-time per game, and hasn't been used much else besides 5.vs.5.

Finley has won 49% of his faceoffs this season and will get a chance to crack the Blues bottom six, and make an impact after the Olympic break. The Blues are expected to make multiple trades, including some of their big names up front, which could open up some more ice time for Finley down the stretch.

Finley was originally a 2020 second-round pick of the Lightning, and before this season had played in just 1 game, last season. Finley's a product of the Western Hockey League, where he suited up for Spokane and Winnipeg throughout his junior career.

The Blues add Finley with two more seasons left on his entry-level contract before he becomes a restricted free agent. Considering his age, this is a great gamble by the Blues, who aren't destined for the playoffs this season and can see what Finley brings to the table in his last-season audition.
